Celebrating Diversity #3Hello, everyone!
When we don't see enough of a particular art form, it is difficult for us to understand or appreciate it. This project aims to bring you features that you might not have seen otherwise from a variety of galleries around dA. For example, I tend to live and breathe photomanipulations and (to a lesser extent) digital art, and I really enjoyed taking a moment to browse the non-photomanipulation galleries for treasures. I found many, and I hope you will enjoy the features I have chosen.

Celebrating Diversity #1Welcome to this new series of Art Features! Even tho most of you are aware of the many many galleries and categories here on dA, I think most of us move in a sort of "comfort zone" between Galleries, Channels or Groups that provide us with a constant flow of new art. And sometimes we forget all the other great artforms, styles and media that are out of our "comfort zone". And today I want to step out of that warm and cuddly place and feature some awesome works from places on dA I don't usually visit! 
Since this is the first entry, I thought I should explain it a bit more, so that is why there is more text in this article ;) The topic of celebrating diversity is something that I really want to cherish. I am guilty of not fully

Celebrating Diversity #2Welcome to the 2nd edition of Celebrating Diversity! This series of articles aims to bring you outside of your comfort zone in terms of Art and showcase from a wider range of galleries to embrace the diverse nature of the submissions to deviantART. Not only are we stepping you outside your normal 'go to' galleries - but we as the writers of this fantastic series, are visiting places that we wouldn't normally go to as well.


As humans , we are all different. We have so many types of all sorts of things in the world such as cars, jobs, flavours of crisps, hair colours and so on - as Charles De Gualle once said, " How can you govern a country that has 246 different types of cheese?" It's a challenge to embrace so many things, but one that we should try hard to accept.

Darkroom Exposed: Digital OverlaysDarkroom Exposed is a series of articles highlighting talented deviants, noteworthy art and helpful information all about the Photography > Darkroom gallery on dA.
This issue features digital overlays, which are created by layering two or more images (including but not limited to texture and colour layers) to create a final image, mimicking the effect of exposing photographic paper to two or more negatives and/or filters during printing. This differs from photomanipulations, where elements of numerous images are separately extracted and combined to make a final image.

Traditional Tuesdays #38Howdy peeps? Welcome to edition 38 of Traditional Tuesdays . This week, like all  of the other weeks, I'll be featuring fifteen works of art from the Traditional Gallery. Any more than that might and you might loss interest or it could cause your monitor to fail in an explosion of awesomeness.  I would feel guilty if that were to happen, so I'm keeping it at fifteen! The Traditional gallery is a vast storeroom of work that covers many mediums and genres. I've tried to show a good mix of artwork, but I don't have room for them all. So sit back, relax, and enjoy the show!

Celebrating Diversity #14What is art? Probably one of those questions that will remain without a definite and universal answer. However I think we all can identify art when we see it, even if we don't know to explain why.
 


Art has a very personal definition and there are no rights or wrongs. For me, art is to find beauty and something worth taking the time to pay close attention to, in everything that surrounds us.


Some people say everything is art. Some agree and some don't. Regardless of your position in this debate I think is safe to say that maybe not everything is art, but everything has the potential to be art, if we know where to look.

Not So Traditional Tuesdays #3I'm staying with my plan to will keep the features fresh for me(and you) and maybe open a few eyes to all the different kinds of artwork that is available while browsing the deviantArt galleries. The things that make one piece of art great applies, for the most part, to other genres. A painter can learn how light and shadow fall from photography, photo-manipulators can learn about composition from a great Manga drawing, and literature can give you the inspiration to try something new or take your work to the next step. You may never try all art forms you see! You can however take what you learn from them and incorporate that into your own work. It could be the difference between stagnating and that breakthrough every artist wants to find!

Celebrating Diversity #6!

It's easy to get caught up in looking at the same artists and types of art.  Sometimes it's just a comfortable thing, sometimes it's just not having time to expand our horizons.  I joked with someone the other day that "my tumblr is full of haute couture, naked chicks, and cute kittens," and it's true!  So this series of journals by your friendly neighborhood ^s is about spreading out, and looking at, and appreciating other types of art, be it other mediums, other subjects, or other styles than you usually look at.  (I managed to keep the nudity and kittens to a minimum.  So, look at all this awesome non nude photography work, then go browse deviantArt in a gallery you don't usually look at!  Enjoy all the amazing art out there to look at!

Why we are Celebrating DIVERSITY!


This ongoing series of Art Features has been created to celebrate the huge diversity of submissions to dA. No gallery on dA is better than the other, they are only different.

Differences are good and healthy, they make our world colorful and enjoyable. It is good that we all have different und unique tastes and we should celebrate that! Instead of scorning something that is different, we have to accept, tolerate and appreciate it and the fact that it enrichens the world with yet another thing :heart:
