On the heels of our 12th Birthday, I've looked back at the projects that my team have undertaken and realized that in the last year, especially, the deviantART community has stepped up and helped to make projects like #projecteducate and #ArtHistoryProject successful. For others, they are a nice way to show off the work of lesser-known artists. Perhaps because there are so many different ways of conceptualizing DDs, there are also many myths and misconceptions. I would like to address some of those myths by responding to the ones most frequently heard. Please note that these opinions are mine and reflect my experiences with the photomanipulation community, but perhaps they will be informative nevertheless.
Myth 1: DDs should always be perfect.
To many of us, the ideal Daily Deviation goes to an artist with amazing talent whose work draws you in and makes you think, "Wow, everyone needs to see this!" A DD should move you, inspire you, and provoke you to think, b
The official rules about DDs: I cannot give a DD to an artist who has had one in the last 6 months.I only feature from one gallery a day.DDs are not prizes! Please don't request one as a reward/award/etc. for yourself or anyone else.Unofficially: I accept DD suggestions for Artistic Nude photography, and Fetish photography. I welcome male nude and fetish suggestions, and I also actively seek out people of color to feature.If you are unhappy with something I have featured, or feel that I shouldn't have for some reason, please note me about it privately, rather than leaving a rude comment for the artist. If you feel that you can not approach me, please note $Moonbeam13. I generally prefer to not feature someone who has already had 2 or more DDs. This is a general rule, not a hard one, I occasionally will make an exception, but something to keep in mind.I also prefer to not feature people I have previously featured.Self suggestions are accepted  However, I would ask specifically that if you self suggest, you include a reason why. Also, please do it honestly! I would appreciate if you didn't log into other accounts to send me a suggestion for your own work - I really don't mind you suggesting your own work!I DO NOT respond to Daily Deviation suggestions. My apologies, I do read them all, but I get such a large number that I just cannot respond to them all. The only exception to that would be if you send me a self suggestion -with- a reason, and request a critique. I will do my best to respond to these notes. |
